 Good morning, children.

Owl Man (フクロウ男, Fukurō Otoko) - An owl monster of Shocker. He was able to fly during night and could emit x-rays from his eyes strong enough to reduce hmans to skeletons. He was destroyed by Kamen Rider #1's Rider Hammer and Rider Kick... Don't ask me what any of that means.

Stop by and say hey to Fukurō Otoko, a species native to Japan. A prime example of insular gigantism.

The other day I was listening to an extroverted friend talk about her kids, parents, health issues, money woes, &c. for an hour. I was growing concerned she'd discuss some sordid bedroom details like the time before. Not this time, thank Vesta, goddess of the hearth. When she finished she asked me what I thought. Before I could answer, she said that I talk about a lot of things but seem to avoid talking about myself. I chuckled as I put my shoes on, said Nonsense, and left for home.

 While I was out for a walk today, I saw what looked like a smoky cloud. Sure enough, there's a wildfire in a community about a 30 minute drive away. They've been evacuated, but already 10 houses are gone. There's an air quality warning, but it doesn't feel that bad yet. 

Here's hoping everyone will be able to go home soon. It was a sudden "drop everything, leave now" evacuation, which reminds me to look through the hurricane season emergency prep.

Fur Face Friday

It's Memorial Day weekend in the US, the unofficial start of summer for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. Schools are out here. Looking at last week's Fur Faces made me think of my own childhood summer breaks.  Like Best Coast/ Codco's Alice, I enjoyed more time outdoors.

Welcome to Fur Face Friday. In case you're new here, favorites are chosen by one of the Snout Selectors (facw, k2b, Hannibal, leahaven, and myopicprophet), entirely on our own whimsy. WHIMSY! However, in the interest of solidarity, we try to select one dog picture and one cat picture (minimum!) each week. Other pets will also, of course, be considered. Hello and welcome to another dose of the working world, like the world isn't enough work all on it's own.

Sunday evening ot

It's been a weekend! I worked at the bike valet for a marathon yesterday and today. It was fun but very chilly, and then it started pouring as we were packing everything up this afternoon. When I got home there were puddles in my boots. 

After seeing everyone cross the finish line, I can definitely say I have zero desire to ever run a full marathon. So many were hobbling around or being carried by their loved ones. 41 km/ 26 miles is a very, very, VERY long way! Just nope. 

I was up at 5 to be setting up the bike valet at 6am two days in a row, so ready for a nap. 😴
