MONDAY NIGHT HO HO HO TEE

Blessed Merry Yule, &C...
Hope you've been nice this year, but if not, shiv that snitch in the back. And that's the true meaning of Christmas, boys and girls. Goodnight.

I briefly considered a holiday movie for the family but couldn't find one I wanted to see again. Thought I'd cue up Rare Exports (tubi, Pluto, peacock, etc.), but that doesn't bear rewatching. It is amusing for a movie with a single joke but was better as the original short which kickstarted it than the 1h 22m slog which resulted from it. The kids and spouse were very kidsy and spousey this year. They don't deserve a lump of coal, which this movie is. Some of you will probably enjoy it. I won't venture a guess as to who. You know yourselves.

Black Finnish humor, a bit of commentary on crass commercialism and acquisitiveness, USian especially. Maybe. Whatever the filmmakers' intention, the critique is there for the plucking. It's not Marx and Engels, and we should all thank sweet baby Jesus for that. Watching it just once is plenty. Starts off, sort of, as My Life as a Dog before veering off into World War Z. Also lots of naked old men running through the snow. (that was a caveat, prudes – behold the poignant beauty of senescent, pogonotrophic masculinity)

(downsized .gif for PG-13 rating, what you do with it is your own biz, pervs)

In the end, I watched Mandy (from library) with older kid and the most recent Spider-Verse (Netflix) with the entire clan, which in retrospect were not very Christmas-y at all, outside the busy, acid colors used in both.

Now I've written more than I wanted to. And certainly more than you all want to read. I'll go back to observing my will to action bleed and twitch on the floor. One more blow from the shovel ought to do it, but I can't seem to work up the will – it's there on the floor, bleeding and twitching. What a pretty pickle to be in.

HOHOHOHOHO Merry Christmas...

Bonus holiday Cocteau Twins EP from '93. "Winter Wonderland" and "Frosty":

Have a good one, all.
