Come come! Come Out!
From bogs old frogs command the dark
and look...the stars
-Takarai Kikaku
I think it’s safe to say a lot of us have been stargazing this week. Were you able to see the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in the sky last night? I sure hope so, because you won’t have another chance to see this until 2080! The last time it was as visible as it was this year was in 1226.
The rare convergence of these planets forming the Christmas star in the sky is believed by some researchers to be what comprised the brilliant Star of Bethlehem. “Star of wonder, star of night.“
Write your own poem, haiku, or senryĆ«! Or share a poem that you’ve read, if you like. I’m sure everyone has lots of mixed feelings this week due to the holiday and the impact of the pandemic on our lives. Express yourself! If you need some help, here’s the haiku generator.
