Monday 🌔 OT - The Oversharer in Your Life

A New Orleans style cafe briefly operated near the bookstore where I worked as a manager in the nineties. Chicory coffee and beignets were recommended, but the flavor of chicory never grew on me, and no caffeine is a definite dealbreaker. I used to stop by during lunch breaks. The owner, originally from NOLA, was nice and chatty about its rich musical history. I'm a good, thoughtful listener - or at least appear to be so - and a lot of people tell me way too much.

Coffee & Beignet

A college student named Tahira was often behind the counter during my break, and since I was frequently the only customer, began telling me about her boyfriend and within a week about her sex life. I always had a book with me, but Tahira didn't care. Tahira told me:

  • Her first O felt like a sneeze she never thought would come.
  • Her boyfriend is small in stature but his pants are a bit tight, if you catch her meaning.
  • The first time she had sex with him, it felt like [deleted].
  • She hates when the condom gets stuck inside after sex. Very graphic details about extrication followed.
... And way more than I ever wanted to hear. I don't believe I ever finished a book there. (early 90s would be Ondaatje, Ishiguro, Cormac McCarthy, Pynchon, Toni Morrison, etc. Probably)

Competition was fierce even before Star*ucks showed up so they dried up and blew away within a year.

Do people overshare with you? Do you overshare with others you barely know? What's the most interesting/funniest/grossest overshare you've witnessed IRL?

How was Monday? Was it excellent or just barely tolerable?
