Thursday Ratatoskr OT, I guess.

I had to take spouse and older daughter to Roscoe Village last weekend, had about an hour to kill whilst some specialist attended to certain womanly issues. Don't ask. About four blocks from the location of their appointment is the Chicago Rat Hole. I sauntered over and took a peek.

Roscoe Village has changed quite a bit since the eighties (the last time I spent any time there), looks more like what I remember of parts of Park Slope in the nineties; power strollers and designer dogs and a lot whiter than it used to be. Everything is starting to look the same everywhere. The rat hole is relatively new, having appeared sometime in the early aughts maybe? Probably from a squirrel landing on wet cement, but yes, it does resemble a rat. As I expected, there were tourists snapping pics of one of the most visited sites in Chicago. One of the kids, probably in her twenties, actually said, "I thought it would be bigger."😉

Just in time, I suppose. They removed the slab on the 24th, citing "damage". Roscoe Villagers are mostly like "Good riddance," because I mean... look at these messes idiots leave there:
You know, whenever I mention cool things you can do in Chicago, something like OMG LET'S GO LOOK AT THE RAT HOLE seems to rise up and obliterate my joie de vivre.

Anyway, this was supposed to be the Monday post, but hey, it's just as good on Thursday. What's up?
