In Response to the Day OT Q, I Did National Canada Flag Day and AADT Did National Black Girl Magic Day On Me - Saturday Night OT

 




The stunning Indigenous Canada flag created by Kwakwaka'wakw artist Curtis Wilson. His design for the flag is meant to represent First Nations in Canada to the public





And for one of their Black History Month events honoring Ms Judith Jamison, Alvin Ailey offered a workshop today teaching "Divining", a work of hers that's been a rotating program in the company's presentations since 1984 -- and I don't know what I thought we'd be doing today but I DIDN'T THINK WE'D BE LEARNING THE ACTUAL CHOREOGRAPHY

I will just post some excerpts and some of her interviews, because I am still processing (mentally, emotionally, in the bones) AND I still feel like a noodle





Ailey Dancers Perform Divining During "Together, Apart"




One of the things I heard today I'm still sitting with and trying to internalize, as we try to find a way to not disintegrate during existence on this timeline, is

"Dancing is beyond the body"




So while I go look to see what year Gil Scott Heron did originally write "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" because I'm always quoting "From South Africa to South Carolina" instead --
