To quote Tiffany Cross on The Reid Out the other evening (was it yesterday? I don't know), "It feels like time is a flat circle" when the Russiapublicans in the GA state legislature are passing voter suppression laws and then after MLB pulls the All Star Game from Atlanta (we should BLAME REPUBLICANS for both the withdrawal of fun and the economic shortfalls suffered thereby - I don't know who Alex Witt was talking to today or what executive producers go over her talking points but even the suggestion to "blame Democrats" should be stopped before it even gets started) Bryan Kemp gets up and tries to gaslight the whole country about how the legislature's racist suppression of voting rights is "actually expanding voting rights".
o.O
Yeah, no -- and also not only is that stupid and we are not Boo Boo the Fool, but Bryan Kemp is also ridiculous if he thinks this move is going to keep him from losing his job (that he cheated to get by purging some 350,000 voters from the rolls when he was Secretary of State before he resigned - basically playing in the same game he was refereeing) to Stacey Abrams, I suggest not only is he going to lose, but one of the additional reasons he will lose, besides those terrible rules also unwittingly suppressing the votes of his own voters if he doesn't get busy and repeal them -- is that his own voters don't think he's a sufficiently horrible human being for them to vote for him.
So there's that.
Nobody should fall for the okeydoke or let the gaslighting spin their brain out of control.
Start with the premise "Modern American Republicans Lie to Everyone" and your brain won't have to work as hard -- which is good because another tactic they picked up from their training in Russia is to lie to confuse us, so their fear-mongering goes straight to the amygdala.
The trick is to not even let it get that far.
Speaking of which - when is some prestigious Congressional committee going to ask the Russiapublican 8 Senators WTH they were doing over there in Moscow on July 4 and BTW, since that was a taxpayer-funded trip, when do they plan to give the taxpayers ALL their - our - money back??
I learned a thing today (you all know I generally only know about one sport, even though as the granddaughter of a (former) Negro League catcher I should probably learn a lot more about baseball given what the MLB just did even if they were pushed to do it) about why the Atlanta Braves (a racist name, and Best also mentioned in Simon's post earlier today that Canada doesn't even use the racist name to talk about the team) moved to Cobb County from Atlanta.
The country stays push pulling.
Georgia is ground zero for voting rights because whether or not ALL of us can vote determines whether or not We the People get anything else ... since the Republicans in office want to take everything for themselves and not even let their supporters have anything but crumbs, because that is how autocracy works.
Let's not let them do that; how about that?
Happy Resurrection Sunday tomorrow to those who are celebrating
