Monday Memorialing Open Thread

 

Good morning, one and everyone. It's the last Monday of May and in the States, it's Memorial Day. Which is about people who died securing freedoms which we still don't all have, but often also apparently about slashing prices and trying to set the house on fire. 'Murrica is an odd place.

 

Sunday Evening OT

 Enjoying the last hours of lovely weather before the first "heat event" of the season rolls into town tomorrow morning. The good news is we were supposed to start the provincial standardized test, which is online for the first time this year. However the site is glitchy and terrible, so it's closed tomorrow and Tuesday while they perform "further tests." Our government is completely incompetent, but on the upside, it's looking like we might not actually have to do the stupid tests at all, but for sure not tomorrow in a heat wave in classrooms with no a/c. It's a small win but I'll take it.

Anyone else celebrating small victories this evening*?

The world is a scary place, perhaps more now than ever. It's easy to be paralyzed by dread and anxiety. Today, take the opportunity to consider how you can push back against panic and despair.
