Thursday Morning Open Thread!

Ever seen or read a description of a landscape and think, “That’s it, that’s where I want to live.”? Felt that way about the Shire in Lord of the Rings.  Every now and then I see a landscape shot and let my mind wander.

For Today in history:

  • 1774: The port of Boston is closed due to the Coercive Act, punishment from the parliament for “Anti British Activities”
  • 1775: North Carolina becomes the first colony to declare its independence.
  • 1861: North Carolina becomes the last State to succeed from the Union.
  • 1862: Abraham Lincoln signs the Homestead Act.
  • 1874: Levi Strauss starts selling jeans with copper rivets.
  • 1927: Charles Lindbergh takes off from New York to Paris
  • 1932: Amelia Earhart completes the first female solo flight across the Atlantic.
  • 1939: Pan America Airlines starts the first regularly scheduled airline flight across the Atlantic.

That’s all from me for now. Talk below.
