Also just trying not to sulk since Rafa lost and the tennis press made a big fuss over Novak - they don't make that big a fuss when Rafa wins the semi even though there is a STATUE OF HIM IN THE PARK NOW.
(I'm fine)
But I heard a 17-year old flautist this evening called Blue Shelton, and the public radio station I was listening to went through his practice routines with him (scales in harmonics, then the interval practice - seconds, thirds, sixths, then he did Bach for staccato practice, then his études; it was endless) and I started to understand why he played so well but I was still amazed by his talent.
The weather has turned from overcast to temperate and sunny and it is the weekend and some of us are at the ballpark, so we'll take the time we can to try to also celebrate the nice things.
We can TRY. Things are hectic; Joy Reid said the other night after the DOJ fallout that we'd better make the most of this last summer since it might be our last as a democracy; Rod Rosenstein (remember him?) may have been in on it - either that or we have a rogue contingent running wild inside DOJ, which is pretty ridiculous - so, I mean, I don't know.
We do the best we can.
