Happy May Day to my union brothers, sisters, and everyone who celebrates.
Where did today go? I woke up early, got a couple things done, blinked, and suddenly it's evening.
Finished watching Once Upon a Time in Uganda. It's a solid doc, with an interesting story, and if nothing else, will introduce you to some hilarious lo budget action movies, and the very talented people making them. It's a shame they can't make a living selling their movies; the people who would watch them can't afford to go to the movies, dvd distribution is difficult because not everyone has a player, and wifi isn't accessible locally either. I hope the production company and its actors are making some money from international streaming now they're developing a cult following.
My HotDocs Festival pick for this evening is called Fire of Love. There doesn't seem to be a trailer, but here's a clip.
It's about a French couple, Maurice and Katia Krafft, who studied volcanoes together. Notice that I used the past tense, although maybe not a shocker if you've watched the clip.👀How's your weekend going/ gone? Here's your Sunday Fish Sketch.
For May Day #SundayFishSketch: “working fish”, how about a working mother? Mouthbrooding Malawi cichlid. pic.twitter.com/XjAoIGIHZx
