MNF (Monday Night Filmtalk), Are you ready for some...? O Pen Thee Red

Good evening, citizens of BTV. Please show us your papers and line up on the left. Those without proper documents, please step to the right. Yes, under the sign reading "OUBLIETTE" thank you kindly.

AKA Jack Burton, not the hero he thinks he is, is he?

Here at maison de l'asymétrie we rewatch a metric tonne of movies. Here's a partial list:

  1. Hot Fuzz
  2. Buckaroo Banzai etc.
  3. Withnail & I
  4. Trust (Hartley)
  5. Big Trouble in Little China
  6. The Thing
  7. The Maltese Falcon
  8. The Philadelphia Story
  9. A Night at the Opera
  10. Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World
  11. Vivre Sa Vie
  12. 28 Days Later
  13. Pacific Rim
Are all these movies great? Eh. Some of them are. I love John Carpenter, but I think he only made one movie I would consider great. Some others are influential, most of them are fun.

The older kid recently opened a Spotify account to incorporate East Hastings by Godspeed! You Black Emperor from the soundtrack of 28 Days Later into her zombies podcast for school. Her profile is all lies. She signed up as Henry Swanson, born July 2, 1986 - the release date for Big Trouble in Little China. What a nerd.

As a child, my favorite rewatches were Fist of Fury and The Deer Hunter, for reasons I've explained here enough times and won't bore you with yet again.

Are there household favorites you keep coming back to?
