Only 30 Days Until Halloween ☀️ October in the Villa of Ormen OT

Assuming simon is not around since I see no Saturday post in the queue. Remember in the early 70s when every kid wanted to dress up as Ziggy Stardust for Halloween? I think I still have the plastic snaggleteeth, yellowed with age or nicotine, and am still finding the odd bits of glitter here and there. Although I have two kids, so maybe the glitter is from an old crafting project.

Stardust by Fletcher Hanks

Stardust is a character created by Fletcher Hanks that I like to pretend is based on Bowie's alter ego. One of the most brutal heroes of the Golden Age, he doled out justice in the most violent and vengeful ways imaginable. Seriously, look up his stories. Hanks, irl was reported to be a drunken, abusive rage monster, and it's not hard to imagine that his true feelings about the human race are on display in his comics.
Stardust serves up Old Testament JHVH punishments.  Other times he just hurls bodies into space. Lovely.

Justice via Fantomah is just as bad.

You don't read Fletcher Hanks for the masterful storytelling or solid draughtsmanship. The action and adventure common in more conventional superhero comics is nonexistent in his comics. You just wait for the criminals to be punished in the grimmest, weirdest ways. You should look for them. There are two volumes edited by Paul Karasik called I Shall Destroy All The Civilized Planets! and You Shall Die By Your Own Evil Creation! in print but may be just a little too much Hanks for the average comic book reader. (I have signed copies)

Anyhow... Halloween is just a few weeks away. Are you dressing up? What was your favorite costume as a kid? Has anyone ever bobbed for apples? Received a toothbrush instead of candy while trick or treating? Pulled any tricks cuz you didn't receive a treat?
