Mrs. Finch's Mystery #2
Mrs. Finch, a former librarian turned amateur detective, was thrilled to receive an invitation to the grand opening of the new aquarium in town. She arrived at the venue and was immediately greeted by the sight of colorful fish and sea creatures swimming gracefully in their tanks.
As she was admiring the various exhibits, she overheard a heated argument between two aquarium employees. They were arguing about a missing jewel-encrusted seahorse that was supposed to be on display at the grand opening.
Mrs. Finch's curiosity was piqued, and she decided to investigate the disappearance of the seahorse. She approached the employees and offered to help. They hesitated at first, but Mrs. Finch's reputation as a sleuth preceded her, and they eventually relented.
She began by examining the seahorse's tank and noticed that there was no sign of forced entry or damage. She also observed that the other sea creatures in the tank seemed unbothered. Her instincts told her that the thief was someone who knew their way around the aquarium.
As she was pondering her next move, Mrs. Finch noticed a manatee swimming towards her. The gentle sea creature looked at her with its big, curious eyes, and Mrs. Finch felt an instant connection with it.
Suddenly, she had an idea. She approached the aquarium staff and asked if there were any security cameras in the manatee tank. They looked at her incredulously, but she explained that manatees were highly intelligent creatures and could be trained to help solve crimes.
The staff agreed to try her plan, and they set up a makeshift communication system between Mrs. Finch and the manatee. She asked the manatee to swim around the aquarium and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.
A few hours passed, and Mrs. Finch was beginning to lose hope when the manatee swam back towards her and made a series of chirping sounds. Mrs. Finch, who had been listening intently, suddenly understood what the manatee was trying to tell her.
She followed the manatee to a dark corner of the aquarium, where she found the missing seahorse hidden behind some rocks. She also discovered the thief, an aquarium employee who had snuck into the tank in the dead of night and stolen the seahorse.
Thanks to Mrs. Finch's sharp detective skills and the manatee's help, the thief was caught and the seahorse was returned to its rightful place. The grand opening of the aquarium was a huge success, and Mrs. Finch was once again hailed as a hero.
Any interesting invitations this weekend?
