Monday (currentmoonphaseNorthernHemispherehere) Spinning Under Control OT

I'm in the screened porch watching an orb-weaver spin an enormous web along the eastern wall. Bobbing and clambering, rappelling down – it's mesmerizing. And very much in the spirit of autumn. Orb-weavers are all over the place, decorating shop windows, ensnaring small children, announcing Halloween.

Web of the Banded Argiope

I believe she's a different spider than the one that constructed a web behind my chair a week ago, who I'd named Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero. When asleep, she would tuck her legs and look just like an autumn leaf. This one could be one of her babies though I'd hate to give her a new name only to discover it was Concetta all along. Embarrassing! Hesitantly named Françoise Hardy for the time being.
