SHE DID IT -- Saturday Night OT

 



I was all set to write about Ava DuVernay being the first Black woman to have a film in competition at the Venice Film Festival and why that even is and how the big H-wood chroniclers couldn't agree on how long her standing ovation was and how her film was based on Isabel Wilkerson's Pulitzer Prize-winning "Caste" and how they managed that.


That'll have to wait.




Made all kinds of history.  Only the 10th teenager to win the women's title in New York.   First American to win the U.S. Open title for either men or women in six years (Sloane, 2017).


In tremendous company

And a two-part question because it is Champions Day, and so we are working hard
