Scary Movies I've Watched This Year, with a Wimp Factor (1–10) Rating

I didn't watch a lot of horror movies this year, but more than you did, probably. Quick skim of my spreadsheet brought up Halloween related films. Not all are straight horror but have some elements that led me to place them on the list.

Wendell & Wild, 2022, Henry Selick, written by Selick and Jordan Peele

Wimp Factor (least scary to most, 1–10) is a bit of guesswork relying on violence and gore, tension and dread, and jump scares, but I'll do my best. They might not scare you or me, but they would scare my wife and younger kid. Recommended by SQRL will be in bold

January – The Menu (5), Candyman (6), Us (8), La Llorona (the Guatemalan film by Bustamante, not the James Wan produced schlock) (3), The Void (9), Nope (7)

February Day of the Dead (8), Night of the Living Dead (7), The Amusement Park (2), Land of the Dead (8), Diary of the Dead (8), Men (7), Wendell and Wild (1), X (8), Martin (7), Survival of the Dead (8)

March  Pearl (8), Halloween Ends (6), Mad God (7), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (5)

April  Midsommar (7), Hatching (8), Climax (8), Videodrome (9), Donnie Darko (6)

May  Vengeance Is Mine (6)

June – The Silence of the Lambs (8), Splice (5), Dark City (3), Bubba Ho-Tep (2), The Craft (2), Evil Dead Rise (9)

July  Inland Empire (7), Relic (7), Glorious (2), The Ritual (8), The Hole in the Ground (8), No Country for Old Men (7), Lake Placid (4)

August  Lake Mungo (6), Skinamarink (4), Enys Men (4)

September  10 Cloverfield Lane (8), Targets (7), Witchfinder General (4), A Knock at the Cabin (7), The Raven (1), Aliens: Theatrical Cut (8), Friday the 13th (5), Part 2 (5), Part 3 (6), Aliens 3 (5), Alien:Resurrection (7), Beau is Afraid (7)

October  The Quatermass Xperiment (4), Halloween II (4), Jigoku (6), The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster (7), Infinity Pool (8), Swallow (4), Dracula (1), Frankenstein (1), The Pit & the Pendulum, (2) Fall of the House of Usher (2), In Fabric (4), Bride of Frankenstein (1), Creature from the Black Lagoon (1), The Mummy (1), The Invisible Man (2), Eyes Without a Face (7)

Recommend some Halloween appropriate movies below. A short reason why we should watch it or a Wimp Factor Evaluative (WiFE) number would be appreciated.

* I was apparently catching up with George in February. I don't regret a thing.
