Science fiction + Horror = X. Solve for X. Best answer will receive a lifetime subscription to Isaac Asimov's Astounding Science Fiction (formerly Analog Science Fiction & Fact and formerly formerly Astounding Stories of Super-Science) and The Ladies' Home Journal. Plus a 16-month calendar from Milquetoast Mania Monthly.
Here are some Sci-Fi/Horror films which I enjoyed the first time and will likely watch again someday. This doesn't necessarily mean they are good. Not at all. Some are pure schlock, and some are just dubious. Some aren't even technically horror, but they contain some elements which were frightening to a younger version of me. (Skipping some of my favorite dystopian works. They all feel too real of late, especially Back to the Future II.)
The Invasion of the Body Snatchers ('78)
Planet of the Vampires
Forbidden Planet
Woody Alien
Lifeforce
It Came From Outer Space
Sunset Boulevard
Disney's The Blackest Hole
Saturn 3, written for the screen by Martin Amis. (It's awful. As much as you might hate it also, it's not even close to how much Amis hated it.)
Hardware
This Island Earth
I liked some of these as a kid and would drop everything to watch one now if they should show up on the RCT TV, even though most of them seem more like redheaded stepchildren than the much-loved thing I remember. The only way to enjoy them today is to approach them as a wide-eyed youth would.
Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence
