So everyone seems to be in the middle of spring cleaning or some other form of urban renewal (I'm looking at you, spaced99, and your fancy new bathroom). I am paralyzed at how much needs doing here at Casa Finch. True, the rug is gone and the moth infestation is at an end, but so much else is in a state of disrepair. The worst is the floor. The hardwood dates from the 1930s and I doubt they put down the highest quality back then, and 90 years of constant tenancy has left it with gouges, scrapes, and dents. When I took up the rug I found two large dark stains that date from Boswell's last days, plus the stubborn remnants of carpet tape that will have me on the floor, scraping at ancient adhesive with a butter knife. I don't know what to do about the stains, or about the loose board in the hall. If I could have one wish to fix up Casa Finch it would be to replace all my battered hardwood with luxury vinyl throughout. Then I would get a puppy.
What one thing would you like to fix about where you live? Just one thing. Prioritize. And let me know in the comments.
