Howdy Cowboys (and Gals)! 🤠

Keep them dogies rollin'. It's the Day of the Cowboy. We called them Drovers round here and they also used to handle sheep, ducks and geese. And other stuff.

Raise a glass of tequila for Amelia Earhart and bring out your old jokes. It's also Water Gun Fight Day which reminds me of the London to Brighton Bike Ride when the Nutfield residents used to break out the Nerf Super Soakers and drench the riders as they came up the hill. Those were hot days usually.

And the Thunderbirds water pistol I had as a child goes for £400 upwards on eBay. Why didn't I buy a box of the things?

Last month, I posted some stuff about a fire in the railway arches at Elephant and Castle. It pretty much shut down rail services and clogged a major junction in London as fire crews attended the blaze just across from a building designed by the real Goldfinger. The incident has been blamed on an electrical fault in a car and New Civil Engineer says it is a wake up call for Network Rail. I suppose it is, since they have trains running over arches of that nature all over London. But if memory serves, some years back there was a major real estate frenzy as the arches were sold off to all and sundry. You get all kinds of businesses working out of them - from bakeries to wine merchants, car repairs to cab firms. There are even mushroom growers and experimental hydroponic farms. Setting terms might have been easier when Network Rail actually owned those arches. Wonder if they pay rent for running trains over what is essential the roof for those firms?

What's up Docs?
