Good thing there's a movie now - and also that the rest of us know what to do
It's ridiculous. First, historically & psychologically speaking, book banners going back centuries usually behave as though the only thing they care about is winning at all costs.
But also historically speaking, the book banners never win. Literally, never.

Book Banning Is Back and It's Targeting Black Folks
Second, those of us who did spend that time under the covers as toddlers making ourselves as nearsighted as we are now, and/or were latchkey kids left to entertain ourselves - we know that opening the imagination and learning to ask questions are habits that hone much more developed critical thinking skills over time. So we have to ask – why would book banning / burning types WANT the people who follow them to NOT know how to do these things?
Could it be because they want their followers to follow orders without asking questions?
Oh. Right. That IS what they want -- never mind how unnerving that stat is -- and Karl Rove flat out *told* us that it was.
(Also? They're "already doing that with the recruits for the law enforcement" battalions. Look how that's turning out.)
Also if you REALLY don't want people to notice what you're doing, maybe don't plan the height of your hysteria and the majority of your bonfires for a month planned to celebrate the same marginalized groups whose members are writing an outsize number of the books you're banning?
'Cause the people you don't want reading the most, if you're doing that? They're the ones who'll notice the irony before anyone else.
All these things that are happening right now have something in common (and wouldn't you know it's the book banner types who are consistently the ones perpetuating the fraud in each instance).
Let's us Readers use our #ConnectTheDots skills to figure out what those "somethings in common" are, and maybe make our recommendations of books the banners might not've gotten their grimy hands on yet in the comments.
