One this day in 1956 IBM released the 305 RAMAC.  It is considered the first commercial computer to use Hard Drive technology.  64000 punch cards worth of memory.

Or about 3.75 megabytes worth, the disk were a pretty color though.

Also in 1986, the first episode of Golden Girls aired.  The show famous for clip shows and Dorothy dealing out emotional damage.
