Also today in 1893 Frank Duryea drove the first American made gasoline powered automobile (He built it). In 1895 he and his brother started the Duryea Motorcoach company in Pennsylvania. The company was later moved to Detroit. At its highest level they made 60 vehicles in a year. These kind of does make today the birthday of the American Auto Industry.
