Friday Morning Open Thread

 J is for Jasper Johns.

Alexander Liberman (American, born Kiev, Russia [now Ukraine], 1912-1999). Jasper Johns, New York, 1963. Gelatin silver print, sheet: 13 3/4 x 9 5/8 inches (34.92 x 24.45 cm). Collection Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York. Gift of Seymour H. Knox, Jr., 1976 (K1976:4.23). © Alexander Liberman Trust

Why Jasper Johns? Because I'm supposed to go to the art museum with my mom today, and he's the first J artist who came to mind. Plus alliteration.

Figure 7, 1968 @Jasper Johns, Two-color lithograph on Zerkall Copperplate Deluxe paper, Edition: 20/70 plus 10 artist's proofs, Measurements, image area: 27 1/8 x 21 3/8 inches (68.9 x 54.29 cm); sheet: 37 x 30 inches (93.98 x 76.2 cm), Collection Buffalo AKG Art Museum, Credit, Charles Clifton Fund, 197

I don't really get most contemporary art but I do enjoy visiting museums.

Which just made me think of another J artist, Joan Jonas. I saw her exhibit at Dia Beacon a few years ago.

It was interesting but I didn't really get it. Do anything interesting lately?

Happy Friday.

ETA from k2b: the comments seem to be disappearing as soon as they are posted. They're going to approved but dropping out entirely after. ETA 2: See this thread. Ugh.
