November 2nd 1932 was the start of the Emu Wars. On one side you had WW1 troops with machine guns. On the other 6 foot birds that moved too fast and in too small of groups to make the guns effective.

Australian officials actually tried the army a couple of times but finally settled on a bounty system that was much more effective.
