Wednesday Morning OT

Welcome to January the 3rd.

The last movie I watched in 2023 was Arsenic and Old Lace. It's a classic so I'll assume everyone's seen it. Some of you probably even have Raymond Massey's strange prosthetic face* tattooed to your backside. I'll just add that comic Cary Grant is my favorite Cary Grant. It's delightful if you're in the mood for a madcap screwball comedy, which I wasn't at all, but I could still appreciate it for what it was.

Movie #252** on Dec. 31. The first movie I watched was on Jan. 3 (The Menu) and the halfway point, #126, was Lake Mungo on Aug. 9. The oldest movie I watched last year was Master of the House, from 1925, notable mostly because it was a Carl Dreyer comedy, for Pete's sake.

Anyway, it's day 3. Hidden any bodies in your cellar yet?

* The running gag in the movie about Massey's Jonathan Brewster looking like Karloff is a reference to the stage play of Arsenic and Old Lace, wherein Boris played Jonathan Brewster. Oh, Mr Capra! How arch! [Titters]

** That's way more than I typically watch in a year. Let's just say the pandemic changed a lot of my habits.
