Friday Evening Post

Good evening.

I forgot to mention one of the best parts of the Abigail movie was a dance scene set to Danzig's "Blood and Tears" song.

Wednesday OT – What's Wrong With You? Aren't You Too Old To Be Acting Like a Drug-Addled Prat? A Completely Normal OT for Completely Unweird People

Listen. I'm not judging you. We all have our flaws. For instance, I have a well known weakness for the musicals of Rodgers & Hammerstein. I'm the guy in the aisles yelling for "More! More Gordon MacRae!" (This is a totally normal post and not weird at all ok?)

Julie Andrews as Maria in The Sound of Music, d. Robert Wise (1965)

Wednesday the 28th OT the Morning Before the Evening of the 28th Which Is a Wednesday. It's August BTW

According to some, this was the first Rock 'n' Roll song, a couple of decades before it was named. It's all debatable, but I'll leave it to the scholars. You can certainly hear its influence on 50s Rock, a pretty straight line to Chuck Berry and Little Richard. And if you can hear that, you can continue along the line to Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins, and so on to The Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Who, Zeppelin, Hendrix.

Sunday evening 🌖T

Just the neighbourhood deer crossing the road.

It's a lazy summer evening. I've got my hammock, my faithful bunny companion, and dinner plans that include corn on the cob, a veg dog with zucchini relish, and watermelon. 🍉

How's it going in the rest of the village?

Wednesday OT 2: The Wrath of the DNC Roll Call (or why your state or territory sucks)

This was what the younger generations call an 'epic troll', yes? Not directed at the individual states and territories and DC, but at the RNC, who can't seem to avoid a cease and desist every other week. If you recall, there was no music played during the joyless RNC roll call. No set curated by DJ Cassidy (or DJ Drumpf either), no soul, no rhythm, no vision, no hope, no fun. Just OBEY.

I do realize that modern DJing requires zero turntables, but that also means there's not a lot of interesting visuals associated with it. Press a button, tweak a knob, wave your hands in the air, yell at the crowd to get up and dance. No parking on the dance floor.

MONDAY eat your blues away OT

What food do you dream about? Or what's your go-to comfort meal? Eating is not my thing, although I enjoy reading about others preparing and eating food.

Delicious in Dungeon (ダンジョン飯 - Danjon Meshi) season one is on Netflix.

Sunday evening 🎡T

I was just reading an article about people's end of summer wish lists and realized I haven't been on a fair ride in a while. If I get back in time, I might think about going to the Canadian National Exihibition (aka the CNE, aka the Ex). It's crazy busy, though. I like ferris wheels ect, crowds not so much.

I checked one thing off my summer list this week: I finally went on a trail I'd been meaning to visit and never got around to (I took the cover photo on the walk.) I've gone swimming in the Atlantic and in a lake, had Moon Mist ice cream, been to the beach, and made a t-shirt, so I've done many of the things I meant to do this  summer.

How about you? Anything you've done or plan to do this summer?

Friday Evening Post

 Good evening.

It is *check notes* Friday, August 16th, 2024.

Fur Face Friday!

Hi all, another Friday is upon us. Somehow we are already more than halfway through August, which is worrying. But what better way to distract from the inexorable march of time than with Fur Faces!

Last week we had a bevy of good pets, so let's pick some winners (they are all winners though)

First up we've got Bindi, experimenting with the magic of moving pictures:

Wednesday Night Shift

I can say "I'm scared" in six languages. I can only say, "Where is the bathroom?" in four. Scary... Speaking of scary, I don't think the French are taking this seriously:

Wednesday the 14th, First Thread Is Open for Business

"Where's me goat?" is something I've never asked meself. How about you? Antikamnia is derived from the Greek and means 'opposed to pain'. Nothing wrong with that unless you're selling a quack cure. Medicine show stuff but with real dangers. The calendars promoted the company's products with memento mori:

Monday Night OT – Shiny Things

Pickup of spouse from the airport took twice as long as it should last night. I don't know what caused the delays. All I know is I was circling around the bumper to bumper traffic for the third time before she texted she was leaving the baggage claim.

Sunday mis-posted OT

Good evening!

Not much going on here. Might go out late tonight to watch the meteor shower. It should be peaking and the weather looks good.

Security footage from Bobby Kennedy Vs Bear - placeholder until real the OT arrives

Ignore unless the OT doesn't make it up tonight. I'm ignoring it too.
