Backtalk: A Medium Place
I had lunch with my old work friend, and another friend, which was nice. My work friend and I stopped in at our old library to check in with them, and after a rocky couple of years, things seem to be settling down a bit, which was good news.
How was everybody else's day?
I got the car vacuumed out, gassed up and returned, and did a tiny bit of grocery shopping on the way home. I'm always relieved when I return a rental car; one less thing to worry about.
How did everybody else's day go? Especially k2b.
I made it to Canadian Tire, and got almost everything I wanted, including a small storage bin for my clothes so that I can keep them a bit more organised than they are in the carryall that I usually take.
Library books and packing tomorrow.

I don’t see any other post scheduled for this evening, and OWYAC is still at the lake. So here’s a place for us to chat.

I'm back from Prince Edward County, with two pairs of cheap, freshwater pearl earrings ($20 each; how could I say no?)
We had a power outage on Tuesday, from about 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, which wasn't a lot of fun, so we spent part of the day driving around, because the car had a/c. Even with the power on, their central a/c didn't really make it to the second floor, so I asked for a fan on the second night, which made sleeping more comfortable.
We heard that a large truck took out 3 electricity poles, and we were trying to figure out how, and we theorized that it may have hit the middle pole, and when it went down, it pulled the ones on either side with it.
We saw some Canada Day fireworks last night at the edge of the little lake a block from where they live, and fireflies too. And we went to a little local parade.
It was 36 C/almost 97 F at the intersection when I got home (a dentistry office has the temp displayed outside) . The house was several degrees cooler, which isn't bad for almost 3 days without a/c (I turned it off when I left), and since I've had it running for about 3 hours, it's very comfortable here.
How is everybody else?
I went to the chiropractor, did some grocery shopping (cheese popcorn for lunch!), and that was pretty much it.

Biscuit had his checkup, but was so agitated (this was unusual), and looked not great, so that they couldn't get blood for his kidney and thyroid tests, and they gave him oxygen for about 20 minutes, since he had such laboured breathing. They've given me some gabapentin to calm him down and we'll try again next week; I'll give the gaba to him about 2 hours before going in.
I had mentioned Angine de Poitrine to one of the receptionists (yes, I'm proselytising), and she is now a huge fan too. Another cult member!
We had rain, and sun, and storm and rain, and more sun.
Hot and sticky today, but the rain did not materialise. My glasses are in; I got a phone call around 3:00, but since the weather was horrible, and I'm going to be passing there tomorrow afternoon, I'll suffer for another day, and pick them up then.
Thank god for a/c.
Angine de Poitrine won Billboard Canada's first Global Breakthrough award (why do I think it was created just for them?), and they got a standing ovation. Their manager, Sebastien Collin won an award as well (Sebastiennnnn!!!)

I did buy a new coat, but it's not actually a "pretty" coat; more a Bond Girl coat. My friend said "It looks GREAT!". Now I cannot gain any weight!
I wonder how Owl is lost is doing.
I picked up a grilled veg on focaccia sandwich for lunch, after my hair appointment, on my way down to the vintage shop. Saved half the sammy for later, and sadly, the shop was tiny, and didn't have much of interest to me.
