Good morning. There's a white opossum who visits my yard. First time I saw it was when there was snow on the ground. Set me to wondering if opossums change their coat coloring during winter months like arctic foxes or hares.
Nope, they do not. This one probably has a pigmentation condition. The coloring in its eyes suggests it isn't albinism but may instead be leucism. Sorry for the late night blurries. The camera phone did its best, but it is very slow without sufficient light. The opossum was probably halfway to McHenry County by the time the camera clicked its next shot. An empty brown dead yard is just another reminder of our mortality and who the heck needs that?
