Wednesday the 6th, Good Morning Good Morning Good Morning to You

A slender dark-skinned man of indeterminate ethnicity is writing in his study. Pen and looseleaf. Close-cropped hair, neat clothing, scribbling quickly. Saturnine or maybe just hyper-focused? He's writing biographies of cats he's known. But from a BIPOC perspective. I woke up before I could ask what "BIPOC perspective of cat biographies" meant.

I don't believe dreams are meaningful, just the brain making up nonsense lyrics to kid's songs. Take that, Siggy Frood. At least I'm increasingly less often the center of my dreams and just an observer witnessing weird things happening to other people. A+ on the 3rd person narrative, little brain.

Dropped my phone whilst biking the other day. Actually, I didn't realize I'd dropped it 'til I left the store. When I traced the route back home, I found it crushed by morning traffic. I would take a picture of it, but I'd need the phone for that. The SD card (SIM card? shrugs) might be salvageable at least. I'm ambivalent about the tech anyway. A great lazy way to look up 'port' and 'starboard' for the umpteenth time, or get a quick visual of a sycamore or aspen, or find definitions of archaic words. Merriam-Webster dot com says, "Love words? You must – there are over 200,000 words in our free online dictionary..." trying to get me to subscribe to access their unabridged dictionary. I've got the compact OED on my desk – you know, the one with the magnifying glass paperweight?

It's unabridged so nine pages per. Still a massive tome.

Whenever I use it, I feel like I'm moving a planchette on a Ouija board.

ALONE.

Which you know you're not supposed to do unless you want to summon something terrible from the dark dimensions. Good times. I love that dictionary. So now I'm back to the old ways: jotting down the words to look up later, walking over to the computer if I need to know what 'poché' in an architectural drawing looks like. My friend Bridie calls me "Techno-Amish," but that's ambiguous at best and brings to mind an odd fusion of disparate musical styles. Heavy dance beat with grunts praising God or planning a barn raising before sunrise.

I do need a new phone eventually, but I'm going to try and convince spouse to get a landline. Or at least a dumbphone.

Port is the left side of the boat btw, starboard on the right. I'll probably have to look that up again next week.

So what's up with you, BTV?
