May 8th in 1886 the Coca Cola was sold for the first time. It was at Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta Georgia. Yes, it had that ingredient in it. One glass cost 5 cents.
Coke's advertising has changed pop culture in America to an unbelievable extent. Their ads in the 1930's helped give shape the now standard Santa Claus image we have today.
