There Are No Apes in The Lion King - Bunny Bowl Eve and Saturday Night OT

I like that photo for lots of reasons but also because it's in "Sinners" colors

Putting this one up as well in addition to Franklin Leonard's observations on structural critique -- not just pertaining to the movie but also to this cultural moment, as we journal not just to process what's happening this Black History Month but also as we try to do some critical thinking in an environment of deliberately stirred-up floods of misinformation as well as under the possible threat of illegal incursions on our fundamental rights, which is always stressful

Take That for Data

On Sinners, Hollywood’s allergic reaction to evidence, and what we lose when structural critique gets silenced

In addition to which I absolutely believe the observations can be extrapolated to AMERICA's reaction to evidence -- as demonstrated by the fact the declaration  "I believe there are good people on both sides", when one of the stated "sides" were declared neoNazis, was insufficient to get the larger part of the U.S. voting electorate to use elections to neutralize the current anti-democratic menace

Karen Hunter (and Rodney) and Dr. Jason Johnson also have some reflections I think may also be helpful w/folks self-reflecting, so those will go in comments, bc I thought in light of everything swirling around our heads that -- in view of the "telegraphing around tactics" going on as we speak around the commemoration of Medgar Evers' murder by violent white supremacists -- might also be helpful to folks as we process

"some people do not want peace because chaos keeps them in charge"

and

"people who want chaos don't fear discomfort - and they know most other people will tolerate the discomfort of chaos before they will face the discomfort of challenging them"
