Our Imagination Can Be Greater Than Their Destruction on Parlez Vous Monday (and Oscar Post-Monday)

I really appreciate that Chani gave us this phrase, so I want to make sure she gets credit

Also when she said in this week’s reading that the art/science/math in the practice helps us see cycles, I understood something I’m not sure I really got before about why I appreciated it

It was and remains a different way of seeing where we are in historical context

Especially when it’s a common fascist tactic to keep people frozen in and reacting to the now in order NOT to be able to see that context (hence the constant chaos)

I also feel like I got a heads up not just from her talking about cycles but also Dr. Jill Lepore (I can’t remember if it was Jon Stewart who had her on the Daily Show or Stephen col )who is a historian  - she referenced a time when Indiana had not one but two blue Senators instead of the red-run place it is now, in the face of … apathy (in part bc of overwork, all built into the design, and also the related exhaustion) that  I think a whole lot of us had not anticipated  (even MVP Harris, who spoke of it as “capitulation”)

Remember also that Brendan Carr is lying about power he doesn’t have and trying to scare people into obeying in advance by weaponizing ignorance

#KnowTheRules  #DoNotObeyInAdvance

Andrew Gillum, a former mayor himself, has let us know about the Mayor’s Conference in about two weeks, at which we can get some information and tactics about how we can get ourselves out of this place and into a better place

also a #KnowTheRules kind of moment, especially given what just happened in Dallas (as well as the attempted pretext-creating cheating going on in cities they named in states where we've been calling (and calling and CALLING) for leadership to go on offense)

And I think the point of today’s story set is that we also have to be able to SEE that place

Which seems like it might be a great reason to hang around filmmakers & see more stuff

I have to cut myself off now bc of some things I’ve got to put back together (literally “can’t leave the house for a few hours without something going wrong that the folks staying in the house promised wouldn’t so you could leave the house for those few hours”)  but hopefully soon I’ll be back with more uplifting stuff

Meanwhile, here are just a couple of amazing clips of cycles and history

and tell us everything you thought was great about the ceremonies and/or what you did with the space & quiet when so many other folks (as Conan said) were on their screens 😊
