The Harlem Renaissance Happened During the Same 1920s as the KKK and Red Summer – So Let’s Talk Global Family Renaissance this Parlez Vous Monday

Not least because that’s one of my favorite things for all the "pure artistic" reasons as well as the “art can inspire us to envision different & better worlds” kinds of reasons

but also that wanna-be authoritarians work overtime & try literally ALL the procedural tactics

(and they really are trying to overturn the entire Constitution – make no mistake and anyone who remembers what Nancy MacLean tried to tell us about ALEC before the 2016 election should remember)

to try to get us to believe that what they want is inevitable and there really is no other way to live

They don’t want us to travel for that reason either

So I’m going to post the credits and descriptions from the video because it describes what is happening so much better than I think I could in my present state

A postcard from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

A historic show celebrates 60 years of the House at the Fortaleza Ozama with a cast of 51 Dominican models—just steps away from Oscar’s childhood home.

The Pre-Fall 2026 collection distills the beauty and joie de vivre of the Dominican Republic through a kaleidoscope of prints, textures and embroideries.

Hand-painted landmarks of the Colonial City and beyond trace an enduring kinship to the island, washing across cotton poplin, satin and jersey silhouettes.

Shades of tamarind, oyster and saltwater ground the collection’s palette.

The palm leaf emerges as a defining motif, envisioned through chine toile tailoring, sprawling degradé prints and intricate gold threadwork embroidery.

Raffia intarsia and bugle bead techniques create a sun-bleached, antique effect across a series of richly textured looks.

Throughout the collection, mosaic-inspired designs contrast the fluidity of silk fringe in shades of paprika, olive and oyster.

Native Dominican florals bloom across quilted silk daywear, metallic jacquard dresses and guipure lace styles for a sweeping finale.
