I heard it described today as taking the time to sit under a tree so whatever brilliant idea the Mars / Uranus conjunction brings (on July 4, no less) can safely tap us on the head

 

(instead of having to dodge a punch in the face

or a t-bone collision of some sort)

One of the things I really did reflect on today is that sometimes Republicans are successful in their attempted sneak attacks trying to achieve an oligarchic culture  -- for reasons I have yet to have the time to dig into, they’re better at strategy than Democrats (I guess being the party of the future requires a certain “squirrel!” mentality, but I’d argue it also requires a sense of which tool to use when & for which purpose)

 

And those who believe they are vigilant are … less aware of their susceptibility to appeals to their emotions (because they believe they have CONTROL over their emotions)

 

I refer, in specific, to Clay Cane’s profiling of Ted Winn to opine on the situation in Texas, which – assuming Clay is in his right mind to do this  -- is already suspect to me because Ted is a gospel singer, not a political operative … and yet he’s platformed equivalently with Rep Jasmine, who is an attorney and a political professional.

 

(The best argument that can be made here is that Mr. Winn is platformed because he has “eyes on the culture”, or some such – but even Chuck D was  married to a political science professor before he spoke up  with that authority conferred on him /sigh)

The thing is – ANY MAN of ANY RACE – White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, other – can be fooled away from the support of Talarico by leaning on their “power urges” both reminiscent and evocative of White hetero Christo-fascist patriarchy..

 

And, wouldn’t you know it – that is EXACTLY what Republicans are using to chip away at Paxton’s lead and have Paxton pulling ahead (according to people on the ground in Texas

 

I remember that back in 2016 when Russia was interfering in US elections, one of the “most successful” things they did was to infiltrate Black communities with Black men who were surrogates they paid from African countries (online, and in person – rather disheartening to learn that there are the equivalents of Tim Pool in countries in Africa but my math teachers would be annoyed if the law of averages didn’t teach me better than that even though “disappointment” is about my feeeeelings).

That “must have macho candidate and not pansy boy Talarico” campaign does not depend on facts.

 

But it’s STILL WORKING. 

 

Because it’s getting men like Winn to fall into the place of trying to beat on Rep Jasmine to go against protocol (which she is not going to do) – and that ultimately inures to the DETRIMENT of the VERY VOTING BLOCK TALARICO NEEDS (which is the footstool of Black votes on whose backs Democratic centrist “gains” during the past half century at minimum have literally always been built) by promising them NOTHING in return for their support (the fact that Talarico has been passively silent in the face of all this noise on the ground presents yet another basis on which to question his actual qualifications for a seat in what’s shaping up to be an Executive v Congressional branch dogfight even if Democrats *do* take both chambers) on the one hand  - the long game non-expert Winn appears to be missing completely  - but on the other hand setting up Black voters to be scapegoated if Talarico fails to reach out to them.

Again.   If you’re a White person seeing sense and you have people in Texas, please call them to lean on the Talarico campaign and remind them it is the CANDIDATE’S JOB to reach out to the SURROGATE.   We’re playing pro ball, Republicans are playing for all the marbles, and these are the rules even if Talarico has been playing in the state house up till now.

 

If you’re someone who knows Clay Cane, by all means reach in and ask him why he’s platforming this dude on his show who appears clearly stuck on stubborn without a comprehensive grasp of the tactics being used against him, the tactics he needs to be employing instead, or the larger issues.

 

CommsMaxxing (may the goddesses forgive me) requires the right message and the right messenger, but if the messenger looks like the “right messager” but he’s clearly carrying the wrong message and doesn’t even appear to know why …
