Sunday Morning Open Thread

It's Sunday morning and I need to do my grocery shopping but I don't wanna.  Also this happened yesterday.

Coco Gauff, Frothy Santorum, Colin Kaepernick, Nicole Hannah Jones, Chris Cornell, TaNehisi Coates, Charles Grodin, and Paul Mooney - OT

Two pieces of unvarnished good news:  Coco Gauff won the single-double in Parma and CNN has fired Rick Santorum (even though it took a month).

I’m celebrating that President Biden signed the first anti-hate crime legislation into law in 12 years at the same time I am painfully aware that a Congress half-full of Republicans has NEVER managed to pass a federal anti-lynching law at the same time state legislatures and state university boards of trustees controlled by those same Republicans does not want K-12 or university or graduate or professional school students to learn the truth about, as MacArthur Genius Grant winner TaNehisi Coates put it today, “the American experiment’s origins in the laboratory of slavery”.

The Cure for World Goth Day

Fiddling around the Holmes Saturday

It's Sherlock Holmes Day! And World Fiddle Day. Also International Day for Biological Diversity and National Endangered Species Day. Dovetails neatly with World Heritage Breeds Day. World Goth Day? And happy birthday to Naomi Campbell who has just become a mum!

It's 6:53 in Madrid, Spain. The sun is rising.

Friday Evening Post

 Good evening.

This week has been... a chore. Good news is that Giz had his follow-up appointment today and vet doc said his mouth has healed nicely and he can go back to regular foods. Speaking of foods, I'm thinking sushi and tempura this weekend.

It's 9:28 PM in Ireland and the sun is setting.

Fur Face Friday

Hello and Welcome! I'm happy to be here to share some cuteness in our weekly source of joy: Fur Face Friday. There were so many sweeties in last week's post, it was an easy job to find some charming faces for us to gaze on.

Big welcome home to Huxley! All settled in and showing sweet belly.

In case you're new here, favorites are chosen by one of the Snout Selectors (facw, k2b, Hannibal, leahaven, iroqdemic and myopicprophet), entirely on our own whimsy. WHIMSY! However, in the interest of solidarity, we try to select one dog picture and one cat picture (minimum!) each week. Other pets will also, of course, be considered. We love all your rats, bunnies, ferrets, and other furry, feathery, and finny pals. WE WILL NEVER DISCRIMINATE AGAINST CUTE.

This week, I spent a lot of time at home with my fur faces, and that made me partial to these homebodies:

Adonis could give lessons on how to make yourself at home!

Fanny knows home is where your friends are!

Ruh shows us how to keep things lively at home.

Saroo's third birthday was fun for everyone in the house!

So there's some of the faces that caught my eye. Now it's your turn to thrill us with new cuteness: go forth and Fur Face!

Friday Morning Open Thread

 Almost there.
