Smurfing to smurf, you smurfity smurfers with smurfy smurf stuff? It's Global Smurfs Day, so don't feel blue, just remember all woads lead to Rome. Argh! I've now got the Esso Blue song stuck in my head.
The
Smurfs, or Les Schtroumpfs, first appeared in a 1958 segment of Peyo's comic
strip Johan et Pirlouit. Serialised
in Spirou, that strip followed the Medieval misadventures of a
King's Page, Johan, and his midget sidekick. It had been running about 11 years
at that point and in an adventure called The Flute with Six Holes they
encountered some strange blue creatures.
I'm wondering if this means that Gargamel and Azrael actually predate the Smurfs?
Meanwhile ...
Watch where you walk in Wistman Woods.
