Tales of Terror

It’s time for the weekly discussion thread!

Halloweeny So Scary It's Monday Open Thread

Carrol Cloar, Halloween

Hello, and happy Monday and/or Halloween/Samhain, all. Time to drag your old bones back to work, or wherever it is you go when you rise from the dead - er, bed.

What's the plan, Franken-stans? Are we playing dress-up? Gorging ourselves on sweet sweet noms? Or just being our usually dark and witchy selves?

The Scariest Thing I Could Think Of

 Eek! It's empty!

This is from my favourite childhood Halloweenish book. It's a very helpful and slightly cheeky guide to witches.

It’s your weekly Photo Gallery! Come on in, take a look at what people have been up to over the past week and share some of your own photos.

They don’t need to be taken with a fancy camera or works of art. Share any SFW photos you’ve taken with even the poorest of potatoes. Of course we love to see that arty stuff too.

Friday Evening Post

It's Friday, October 28th, 2022.

Fur Face Friday

The leaves are falling outside my window as the seasons change - but the fur faces from last week's comments are here to keep us northern folks cozy with their heart-warming cuteness and keep our southern hemisphere pals cool with their chill attitudes!

So, amidst the general misery and bleahness, anything in particular stand out as specifically egregious for you this week?

Fear not, because tomorrow is Friday, and Friday we will be in love. With who or what I’m not one hundred percent sure about.

Tuesday Rainy Eve OT

So we're in an especially rainy swath here in Sydney, torrential rain and threats of catastrophic flooding out in the smaller towns and outer areas of the city all week. Wheeeeee! How's your Tuesday been?

Sunday evening OT

Last's year's spooky stitching project.

Look who came to visit! It's Dandy! Or one of Dandy's pals. Very bold, too, and not at all bothered by me and Alice on the deck.

Packing, sorting, and more packing is what's happening for me. The big day is Friday! What are you up to this evening?

Friday Evening Post

 Good evening.

Kwaidan (1964)
After more than a decade of sober political dramas and socially minded period pieces, the great Japanese director Masaki Kobayashi shifted gears dramatically for this rapturously stylized quartet of ghost stories. Featuring colorfully surreal sets and luminous cinematography, these haunting tales of demonic comeuppance and spiritual trials, adapted from writer Lafcadio Hearn’s collections of Japanese folklore, are existentially frightening and meticulously crafted. This version of Kwaidan is the original three-hour cut, never before released in the United States.

This is very, very interesting and I have seen any of the main stream media covering this (not that I watch a lot of main stream media). Peter Zeihan, whose youtube channel I've been following brought this up about the U.S. putting a spoke in China's semiconductor industry. There are two videos a day apart that cover slightly different aspects of what's happening. He seems to know his stuff, from what I've seen of his videos.

Tuesday Evening Comfort Thread

Tonkinese cats smell, to me, different than any other cat I've ever owned/been owned by. Tonight, after 13 or so years of nuzzling my face into their fur, I just realised what that scent is (to me at least) - a comforting scent of buttered popcorn. This makes me happy. Anyone else have any revelations today that are actually pleasant? Or, if the world is behaving as usual, go ahead with that too.

Sunday Evening OT

This isn't Alice. Alice would never cooperate with dressing up or pumpkin perching.

The leaves are reaching peak leaf here, so when I went for a walk this afternoon, there were many fellow leaf-peepers out there. Sadly Disqus and/ or Blogger won't let me show the pictures I took on my phone. They're very picky.

Good evening.
Beware the Beautiful Witch -- Power O'Malley, 1913

I have some movie suggestions.

Fur Face Friday

Hello and yay Friday, everyone. Last week we slapped together a fine crew of handy dandy fur faces. This week it’s getting even closer to Halloween, so we’ll see if we can drum up some drama from a critter or two.

Hannibal went to visit a soliloquizing scaleface.

My kingdom for a bucket of flies!
