I saw a new-ish book today being discussed and it occurred to me that some people aren't planning to read it just because the author's nane is Natasha Hakimi Zapata (a woman, and two vowels)
At the same time it got me thinking about the myriad of times a bunch of us have thought
"Other countries do XY and their society is perfectly competent in Z particular area. How come the U.S. can't manage to get it together and do the same?"
Where are we finding our islands of coherence -- inside, outside, aural, visual, book-learnin' -- this week / month / year / as such time till the monstrosities are toppled?
