Two towns that are unique in challenging environments;
Whittier, Alaska;
And Coober Pedy in Australia;
Also; this is devastating for rural communities, but I thought it would be coming; Greyhound Bus is closing down ALL routes in Canada, permanently. I remember when I was working in Ottawa as a university student and taking the bus home to Toronto on the weekends. At least for routes like that, the train runs through major cities, but there will be no service for smaller communities. Not everyone has a car.
