Adventures in Domesticity

We had snow up top yesterday. Not a reference to my greying follicles as some surmised. The frosty stuff was in my garden as well and Tiddly was not impressed. Between being battered by hail and rain, it was rather cold - so naturally I had to work the freezer. Oh joy. The snow is still there today.

It's Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day. I have not done this, despite acquiring some wafers and a Lyon's Maid brick (which is kind of disappointing and melts far too easily. But what should I expect for £1.50?).

I have just acquired a Samsung smartphone and hate it. Much prefer my Nokia steam thing. But the new horror will help me be as miserable as everyone else at work. Sent a selfie to my cousin who says she does not recognise me.

Thursday was a mad dash to Caernarfon, back to sort Tiddly, then a late shift at work. Knackering and the night ended with a heavy downpour which was a prelude to the solid white stuff.

This week's cookery class casserole was Fish Pie. I would have liked to have added prawns and perhaps some mussels. Pleased with the results though.

Friday morning I helped Cariad kick off a lobscouse. Which meant  cutting lots of veg. Except before we got started there was an unpleasant whiff about the place. Seems Percy had peed on Scamp's bed. As I clear out the bedding it drips on my new lamb's wool socks. Straight in the washing machine for them.

Normal veg prep resumed. "Make sure you cut the potatoes to an edible size."  "So baking potato size?" "No, smaller than that." 🙄 Closest to the look I got.

Mixed Guinness 0.0, their new alcohol-free version, with Irn Bru Extra, their sugar free version. Still can't get the black-orange split, but it does make a nice shandy.

The local chippy has had a bit of a refurb and has got into "specials". Yesterday's left me a bit puzzled. What makes it Canadian? Has the beef come from Canada? No. Is it something about the way it has been cooked? No.

A little google tells me this is what I would normally call a minute steak, but also some butchers call a thin top rump cut Steak Canadian. Fancy that.

This morning has been laundry and Tiddly cuddles. Hoping the rain will clear when I head out to work. How is your day so far?
