I was on call at work earlier this week and someone* said something about you need to stop wishing on a monkey's paw. This other person had no idea what she meant then when told it's from a classic story said he and his guys can barely read (probably former Marines - they regularly insist they can't read).
Since it's now been a few weeks I figured I might as well be myself and said, you don't need to know how to read to know that story. It was a Simpsons episode. Because at this point, everything was a Simpsons episode.
Did I win friends and influence people? Probably not but then that's never been my goal.
Any of you brave/foolish enough to make a wish now?
*Pretty high up on the food chain, although not directly part of my food chain. Who I interviewed with for a not exactly IT job a while ago but failed to get. I don't think she remembers. But I do. I remember everything. [Evil laughter]
