Thursday Morning Open Thread

It’s May 16th, which makes it the 121st anniversary of the first transcontinental trip by a motorized vehicle. Done by George Wyman, on a California Motor Company Motor Bike.

He left San Francisco at 2:30 PM and arrived in New York City on July 6th.  20 days shorter than the first car to make transcontinental trip in the same year.

The roads around Omaha are slightly better now.

He had a few major issues on the way, a bent crankshaft was one of them.  The 1.5 horsepower engine lost power 150 miles out of New York and he had to pedal the rest of the way.  He took a lot of punishment too, he used train tracks where there weren’t roads and that couldn’t have been smooth ride for the 3800 mile trip. The bike itself weighed close to hundred pounds

What does BackTalk have planned today?
