Today in 1917 Jack Kirby was born.  He helped create Captain America while working for Timely Comics (now Marvel). Worked with National Comics Publications (now DC). He also served in the European Theater during WW2.

He played a hand in the creation, style, and story of the X-Men, Avengers, and the Fantastic Four. He Also created Darkseid during his Fourth World series while at DC. He even drew one of the most famous covers ever.
